Voting intentions poll shows CON 32% (+2), LAB 40% (–3), LD 10 (–), OTHER 18 (+1)

New figures from Kantar Public show Labour’s lead over the Conservatives narrowing to eight points in June, down from a high of 13 points recorded immediately after local elections held in May.

Whether the improvement in the Conservative position is thanks to goodwill generated by the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, or if it is the start of a fight back following three months of Labour gains in the polls, remains to be seen. However, with polling numbers for the Liberal Democrats and the other parties remaining static, Conservative gains in June have come almost entirely at the Labour party’s expense.

Notes to editors:

Kantar Public interviewed a representative sample of 1,229 people between 15th and 17th June, 2012.
All interviews were conducted as online self-completion. The data is weighted to match population totals for age, sex, social grade, working status, presence of children, 2010 voting patterns and region.
