DWP: How best to present information around state pension to raise understanding and support retirement planning

The aim of this qualitative study was to explore what understanding people had of the State Pension, what worked in terms of explaining elements of the State Pension, and what prototype information materials could be developed that effectively engage people, thereby leading to better informed retirement planning. The research was commissioned in 2008 by the Department for Work and Pensions, and was carried out by TNS-BMRB Social Research and the Futures Company using a series of focus groups and in-depth interviews.
