The Education Policy Group has research expertise that spans the entire education system from early years and childcare to adult learning and skills. The body of work includes:
- Large longitudinal studies;
- Surveys on sensitive topics;
- Skills assessments;
- High profile policy evaluations; and
- Deliberative panel recruitment and maintenance.
Our education team have led some of the most innovative research programmes in recent years in Whitehall. The ground breaking Longitudinal Study of Young People in England (LSYPE) is the major cohort survey of youth in the UK, and the first major longitudinal survey to use a mixed mode approach including online. Our work on the Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC) is part of the most comprehensive international survey of adult skills ever undertaken. Meanwhile, our work for the Department for Education on the Parents Panel allowed us to facilitate the longest term deliberative dialogue between government ministers and parents ever conducted in the UK.
