Utilising the breadth of experience and depth of methodological expertise at TNS BMRB we are ideally placed to ensure we design optimal research for our clients achieving the best balance between cost and quality.
TNS BMRB has its own specialist survey methods team, a dedicated team of experts, applying thought leadership and best practice. The team is responsible for:
- gathering the latest methodological evidence to ensure that our designs have a strong empirical basis
- providing recommendations to both clients and colleagues on sampling, survey mode, questionnaire wording, analytic techniques, and other methodological issues
- driving best practice within TNS BMRB through formal and informal training
The Methods team is closely involved in the design of all our major studies. Some recent examples include:
- a complete overhaul of the Home Office British Crime Survey sample design
- substantial input into the re-design of Taking Part (the DCMS survey of cultural and sporting activity) including work in partnership with external consultants on the feasibility of using this data to model small area estimates
- a study of the benefits and drawbacks of using multiple data collection modes in the DCSF Youth Cohort Study
- the design of the British Election Ethnic Minority Study for 2010 using variable area-sampling probabilities to yield matched sample sizes for five different groups
- the design of a new study of individuals experiencing homelessness and multiple social exclusion in England, the latest in a series of partnerships with the Centre for Housing Policy in York
