Building insight and capability within local government

The demands and responsibilities on local government have never been greater. Some of the key challenges include:

  • More effective use of money ‘working smarter’
  • Delivering services to maximise satisfaction
  • Determining the optimum balance between satisfying the majority and protecting the most vulnerable

Our offer reflects the need for pragmatism, cost-effectiveness and ensuring dialogue with stakeholders, notably residents and service users, is maintained. It includes four key elements:

  • Understanding of residents needs and satisfaction – via residents surveys
  • Insight audit to optimise the use of knowledge within local authorities
  • Capability building, via training and skills transfer to improve capability to undertake work internally or purchase/manage studies more effectively
  • ‘Tough choice’ deliberation – co- creation (user centred design) to drive more cost effective service development and delivery Our experience includes:
  • Hosting the Survey of Londoners since 1990
  • Residents surveys e.g. London Borough of Newham and Tower Hamlets
  • Insight audits e.g. Hampshire County Council
  • Providing training for Local Authorities
  • Evaluation of behaviour change
