Sally Malam – Director
Sally Malam is a specialist in the fields of Insight and Communications research. She has played a leading role within TNS-BMRB in developing our approach to producing customer insight, including the development of guidance, with the Cabinet Office, for best practice in customer satisfaction work. Sally has worked closely with HMRC for many years on their wide-ranging and complex programme of customer research, including a number of major redesigns to address the ever-changing nature of customer service and a need to produce actionable findings.
Allied to this, Sally also took a major role in developing TNS-BMRB’s approach to researching communications and behaviour change, designing and leading numerous long running studies to evaluate high profile public sector communications, such as the DH flagship tobacco control campaigns.
Sally has a strong reputation for designing, testing, and running challenging and complex research projects. For example, she led the team who developed and ran the first ever national survey of people with learning disabilities (something previously dismissed as impossible). In 2008 she led the team who designed and conducted a groundbreaking Food Standards Agency study to assess the efficacy of front of pack food labelling, a study that had to stand up to highly resistant food industry scrutiny.
Sally joined BMRB in 1996 after completing her PhD in sociolinguistics.
